HOBART, Ind. (Inside Indiana Business) - Less than 24 hours after Amazon announced a $15 billion investment to build new data center campuses in northern Indiana, one future location has already been identified.
The city of Hobart confirmed to Inside INdiana Business on Tuesday that it has reached an agreement with Amazon to develop a next-generation data center campus in the Lake County city.
Mayor Josh Huddlestun said a dollar figure for the Hobart campus or a specific number of new jobs have not yet been identified. However, he noted that the project will create thousands of construction jobs for local workers and “close to a thousand” long-term jobs.
The city said the project will position Hobart as a regional leader in digital infrastructure.
