HOBART, Ind. — Hobart city officials have confirmed to 13News that they are working to finalize a deal with Amazon that would bring a $15 billion data center.
Mayor Josh Huddlestun told 13News he is in negotiations with the online shopping giant, which announced Monday they plan to build data centers in northern Indiana for artificial intelligence.
Huddleston says the project would be part of a newly created technology park near 61st and Colorado streets, designed to cluster data center development into one dedicated zone.
"It positions us in the region, as a global player in terms of jobs creation, and also puts us in a position, from a tax standpoint, to go create those quality-of-life things that we haven't been able to do in our community," Huddlestun said.
