MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Common Council on Tuesday, Nov. 25, passed a resolution granting UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena a permanent downtown historic designation.
The near-unanimous vote covers the Miller High Life Theatre as well.
The UW-Panther Arena has hosted thousands of sporting events serving as the first home of the Milwaukee Bucks and the home of Marquette University basketball, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) basketball, hockey, indoor soccer and more.
Assuming Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson signed Tuesday's designation, it does not guarantee that the buildings will not be torn down, but it makes the process more difficult.
