LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Louisville Metro Police Department has released the names of two officers involved in a deadly shooting over the weekend.
The shooting happened in the 100 block of East Southland Boulevard around 10 p.m. on Saturday.
LMPD said officers were responding to an armed robbery in the area.
While en route to the shooting, officers were provided a description of the suspect. Once on the scene, officers located a person that matched the description walking nearby.
Police said officers approached the man, who then ran away and pulled out a handgun. They said two officers fired their weapons, hitting the man.
The man died at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
The two officers involved in the shooting have been identified as Patrick Norton and Richard Waller.
