Bus drivers for the Detroit Department of Transportation will receive a $6 hourly pay boost thanks to a new labor agreement approved Tuesday, Nov. 25, by the city council.
The council approved a proposal for the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 26, which represents more than 500 city bus drivers, to bring their wages more in line with what the suburban SMART transit system offers its drivers. The approved increase brings starting wages for DDOT drivers from $19.56 to $25.38 an hour.
