CHENEYVILLE, La. (KALB) - As the holiday season approaches, some Cheneyville residents are preparing for Thanksgiving without family or anyone to share it with. But this year, the men of Cheneyville stepped in to change that.

The Town of Cheneyville, joined by local men and community organizations, hosted its first-ever “Mensgiving Community Thanksgiving Dinner” on November 25. The event was held at noon inside the town’s annex building.

The goal of the dinner was simple: For the men of the community to serve the town’s senior citizens and women, offering a warm meal and a sense of togetherness ahead of the holiday.

The feast featured traditional Thanksgiving favorites, gumbo and turkeys donated by AmeriHealth. The organization also provided free blood pressure and BMI screenings for a
