Three Merseyside colleges will be affected by staff strikes: City of Liverpool College in the city centre, Hugh Baird College in Bootle, and Wirral Met College in Birkenhead.

The strikes are organised by the University and College Union (UCU) over pay and working conditions.

Nationally, staff at 32 colleges across England voted in favour of walk-outs, with an overwhelming 90% of staff who voted backing the strike action.

The union's further education committee will now meet to decide next steps.

The UCU is demanding a 10% pay rise, while the employer body, the Association of Colleges (AoC), has recommended a 4% pay uplift.
