DECATUR, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has indicted a man who is accused of shooting and killing someone in Meigs County.
Officials said 47-year-old Jason Burnette was shot and killed on July 6 at a house in the 700 block of Peakland Road in Decatur.
TBI and the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the shooting and later identified Chad Mitchell Lankford as a suspect.
According to TBI, on Nov. 24, a Meigs County Grand Jury indicted Lankford on one count of first-degree murder. The next day, he was arrested and booked into the Meigs County Jail on a $1 million bond.
