TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona is urging the community to step up and help feed those in need this holiday season.
After experiencing the effects of the government shutdown earlier this month, the food bank is reaching out for support.
"It's better than a $1,000 paycheck because I got to participate in helping my neighbors," Robin Paul, a Vail resident and volunteer, said.
Paul, who has been volunteering every Tuesday for the past five years, has witnessed the holiday season become the busiest time for the food bank. This year, the demand was especially high in October and November.
"It was very very packed in October... so it's been about steady," Paul said.
