KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. – Kittitas County will hold a public hearing on December 2, to discuss the renewal of a tax funding mental health and substance use disorder prevention. The hearing will take place in the Commissioners’ Auditorium at 205 West 5th Avenue, Room 109.
The 1/10th of 1% sales tax, implemented on December 7, 2021, aimed to support mental health and chemical dependency services. The tax includes a 2027 sunset clause, allowing time to evaluate its impact before considering long-term funding.
Commissioner Brett Wachsmith emphasized the importance of public involvement. "Public participation is important in local decision making," Wachsmith said. "We want the public to come and give input."
Residents can express their views in person or in writing before the hearing. Written
