MURRAY — Shots were fired after two men tried to rob a jewelry store in Murray on Tuesday. One of the men was shot and taken to a hospital, and the other was still at large.
Kriston Reardon with the Murray Police Department said two armed men in their twenties attempted to rob Sierra-West Custom Jewelers just after 11:30 a.m., but they fled the scene.
By 12:30 p.m., nobody was in police custody.
Sgt. Michael Olsen with the Sandy Police Department later said that one of the suspects was dropped off at a Sandy medical center and had been shot in the leg by an employee at the jewelry store. He was reportedly in stable condition.
Olsen said Sandy police were assisting Murray PD to find the other man.
