OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) -An Ocala man critically injured in a November shooting is speaking publicly for the first time about the attack that nearly killed him and the long recovery he now faces.
Robert Ciampa was shot inside his Silver Springs Shores home early on the morning of Nov. 14. Deputies say the suspect, now 18-year-old Jeremy Pitts, who was 17 at the time, told detectives his hand “just slipped” before the gun fired.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Pitts was arrested the same day of the shooting near Oak Lane and Locust Pass Trail. Investigators say Ciampa was able to identify him from a photo lineup while in critical condition at the hospital.
