LAS VEGAS — Rutgers seemed destined for another double-digit defeat after another lackluster effort, further sending its season into a spiral.
And while the Scarlet Knights could not overcome an awful start to prevent a third consecutive loss, they showed they still have some life.
Rutgers fell to Notre Dame, 68-63, at MGM Grand Garden Arena on Tuesday to drop to 0-2 at the Players Era Festival. Combined with a 25-point loss to No. 17 Tennessee on Monday, the Scarlet Knights (4-3) are all but guaranteed to finish as one of the four worst teams at the event and play their third and final game in Sin City on Thanksgiving.
