VICTOR, Iowa —
A person was hit and killed by a car on I-80 near the town of Victor in Poweshiek County Tuesday morning, leading to a temporary shutdown of part of the interstate while the Iowa State Patrol investigated.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., and it is not clear if the fog played a role in the crash.
According to the latest data from the Iowa Department of Transportation , 248 people have died so far this year on Iowa roads. That number is 61 fewer than at the same point in 2024. Over the last five years, an average of 353 people have been killed in statewide crashes annually.
