TREMPEALEAU, Wis. (WXOW) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers to avoid certain types of imported cookware after testing showed some products may leach significant levels of lead into food.
Trempealeau County Health and Human Services shared the alert on its Facebook page, encouraging families to check their kitchens for any items listed in the FDA’s safety notice.
According to the FDA, some cookware made from aluminum, brass, and aluminum alloys showed the potential to release lead when used for cooking or food storage.
The agency says young children, pregnant women, and those who are breastfeeding may face a higher risk of health impacts from exposure.
