The Washoe County School District said on Tuesday night it removed tater tots from school lunches at more than 60 schools and launched an investigation after what appeared to be glass or plastic was found in the deep-fried side dish at 12 schools.

The district told the RGJ the exact size of what was found wasn't immediately available, but the pieces were small enough to be mixed with tater tots.

"The description of 'glass-like' was used as it looks like glass or hard plastic, and the investigation will determine that," WCSD said.

The district said one student reported a minor cut, but no other injuries were reported on the last day of school Tuesday before schools are closed until next week for Thanksgiving break.
