The Los Angeles Lakers secured a road win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday. But the night turned sour for their starting center, Deandre Ayton. The veteran big man logged just 13 minutes before being ruled out for the remainder of the matchup.
According to reports, Ayton is also expected to miss the Lakers’ NBA Cup game on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Clippers. ESPN’s Dave McMenamin provided the latest details on Ayton’s condition. According to head coach JJ Redick, Ayton underwent an MRI on his knee and might return by the end of the week.
“JJ Redick said the MRI on Deandre Ayton’s knee was “clean” but revealed some swelling. Redick said the Lakers have hope that Ayton can return by the end of the week,” McMenamin’s report read.
