DESOTO CO., Miss. (WMC) - The attorney for Lindsey Whiteside has filed a response to an attempt to have her re-sentenced in her state case.
The former youth pastor and basketball coach was given house arrest after pleading guilty to child sex crimes.
Desoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton claims the judge’s sentencing decision was influenced by fraud with two character reference letters for Whiteside being fraudulent.
Her attorney calls the claim false.
Whiteside’s attorney said those letters were a small part of impact statements, and shouldn’t carry weight towards allowing re-sentencing.
