MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man was hit by a U.S. Marshals’ vehicle during a chase while on foot.

The chase happened on November 22 when a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper tried to pull over a driver passing the double-yellow line into the wrong lane of the road on Mississippi Boulevard.

The driver refused to stop for a traffic stop, and a pursuit ensued.

The driver eventually got out of his vehicle and took off on foot.

The trooper notes in the police report that he spotted a firearm in the driver’s hand and noted that he intended to shoot the driver “using deadly force, when I saw that it was practical to do so without endangering anyone else.”

A U.S. Marshal who was also giving chase then hit the suspect with his vehicle, causing the man to drop his weapon.
