A former firefighter is now training as a paramedic with the helicopter emergency medical service.
Aaron Harlow-Stephenson, 27, from Durham, is in his third year of the Paramedic Science and Out of Hospital Care degree at the University of Sunderland.
Recently, he completed a placement with the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.
Mr Harlow-Stephenson said: "It taught me a lot that I can bring back into my own practice as a student paramedic.
