Akron-Canton ice rinks are opening for the holiday and winter season.

Skilled skaters and even romantic types looking to recreate the perfect Hallmark Christmas moment have plenty of choices to hit the ice.

Akron's Lock 3 ice rink

Akron's large ice rink in downtown's Lock 3 Park opens for the season on the day after Thanksgiving on Nov. 29 as part of the city's WinterBlast festivities.

The hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. The rink is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays with the exception of Dec. 23 and Dec. 30.

The hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
