Police officers have foiled a suspected prison drug smuggling plot, and seized a large haul of illicit drugs. The Hebburn officers, of Northumbria Police 's Neighbourhood Support Team, were just making a routine arrest in South Tyneside on Saturday, November 15.
The officers were responding to a report of criminal damage, and a 35-year-old man was subsequently identified as most wanted, so officers began working to locate him. That evening, due to intelligence collected, the suspect was tracked to a hotel in South Shields .
