After just missing the 2024 high school boys basketball playoffs with a loss in a play-in game to Coronado, the Franklin Cougars appear ready to make a strong push to make the playoffs this year.
So far in the young season, the Class 6A Cougars are doing well and are 5-2 after Tuesday's, Nov. 25, 69- 62 home win vs. Las Cruces' Organ Mountain.
"We've been challenged early and it's helped us," Franklin coach Adam Castillo said. "We're growing as a team and we've shown a great deal of resiliency."
The win against Organ Mountain was the team's third really good win of the season. Organ Mountain is typically one of New Mexico's consistent winners, and the Cougars defeated a much-improved El Dorado team in the season opener and Class 5A state-ranked Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial last wee
