East Ayrshire Council has narrowly approved plans for 29 new homes on the edge of Crosshouse following a highly charged and lengthy planning hearing.
The development — proposed by Dawn Homes on land adjacent to Holm Farm on the B7081 — was passed by six votes to five after councillors debated concerns over noise, road safety, flooding and the impact on neighbouring homes.
Before the hearing began on Friday, the committee was told that a late challenge had been received questioning the noise impact assessment submitted with the application.
The council’s legal adviser, Craig Young, advised members that while officers believed noise mitigation was possible, the current noise report should not be taken into account.
