You may have heard people describing the tiny, red bumps on their arms and legs as 'chicken skin' and, while this this is not the actual medical terminology for it, it is one that is spoken a lot due to how it looks .
Called keratosis pilaris (KP), this condition, whilst harmless, can make people feel self-conscious about their appearance. The NHS explains that it is a 'very common harmless condition where small bumps appear on your skin'.
It can last for a long time, but there are treatments that may help. It is not infectious so you cannot spread or catch it - and anyone can develop it.
