A former Trimble County sheriff pleaded guilty Nov. 25 after he was accused of sexually abusing a County Attorney’s Office employee during his time in office.
Charles Kelton, 53, was originally charged with sexual abuse, but he pleaded to a lesser charge of harassment with physical contact, according to court records. A judge dismissed the official misconduct charge.
Kelton was given a conditional jail sentence of 45 days, meaning he will not serve time behind bars if he does not violate the court’s orders.
He had faced charges after an alleged incident with the employee in February. An arrest warrant shows Kelton admitted to grabbing the employee's hips and "pulling her against him despite her physically and verbally rejecting his advances."
Kelton turned himself in to the Oldham Co
