The Fair Lawn library's wedding dress giveaway is coming to an end.

The library is not exactly the first place brides would consider when looking for the perfect wedding dress.

But for years, Fair Lawn's Maurice M. Pine Free Public Library has been a place to find one. For free.

The uniquely-popular program is coming to an end, with one last wedding gown giveaway on Black Friday, Nov. 28, program officials said.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the meeting room on the main floor, staff said. Dresses are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and no appointment is needed.

The library said it still has a large number of vintage gowns and a limited selection of modern styles. Sizes range from 00 to 24, with different amounts available in each size. Accessories will also be offered while supplies last.

Visitors can choose vintage pieces from the 1940s through the 1980s, which staff said can be worn as wedding gowns, shower dresses, or rehearsal-dinner outfits.

Library Director Adele Puccio started the program in 2023, driven by her love of vintage wedding fashion and her wish to revive gowns often worn just once, according to NorthJersey.com. Brides met with her for appointments in her office.
