A house fire in Dutchess County drew multiple fire departments from across two states after heavy flames were reported pouring from a two-story residence on Route 22.
The blaze happened on Monday, Nov. 24, when crews were dispatched around 5:30 p.m. to 1050 Old Route 22 in Millerton after reports of a possible structure fire, according to the Millerton Fire Company.
Responding units from Amenia, Wassaic, Sharon, CT, and Lakeville, CT, along with the Town of Northeast Medic One, were soon called in under automatic mutual aid.
When Millerton’s first-arriving units reached the scene, they found heavy flames coming from the roof and fire venting through second-floor windows on two sides of the home. Firefighters were told nobody was inside.
Millerton’s first engine arrived at 5:35 p.m., shortly before more water tankers were requested. Crews made their way into the structure and launched an aggressive interior attack, bringing the intense blaze under control at around 5:58 p.m.
The Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division responded to determine the cause and origin of the fire, which remains under investigation.
All units cleared the scene around 10:20 p.m. No injuries were reported.
