LADSON — A 35-year-old woman died this week after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing a highway.

Stephanie Phagan of Toccoa, Ga., died Nov. 23 near Ladson Exchange Park, the Charleston County Coroner’s Office said.

Phagan had been walking on U.S. Highway 78 near Craven Road around 8 p.m. when a vehicle traveling east ran into her, said Lexi Douglas, spokesperson for the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures at the scene.

The sheriff’s office is investigating. It is unclear if the driver was cooperative with authorities or if charges could be filed.
