GREENVILLE, S.C. —
More than two months after South Carolina's hands-free driving law went into effect , the South Carolina Highway Patrol says troopers have already written over 650 warnings statewide.
"For the general motoring public, for our law-abiding citizens, you know, they're getting used to it," said Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway.
The law makes it illegal to hold your phone while your vehicle is moving and aims to limit distractions behind the wheel. If your wheels are moving, even slowly, you cannot hold your phone or have it on your body.

"If you're going to use it, you know, mount it in some type of [secure] dashboard cradle," Ridgeway said.
Other options include using Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
