DICKINSON — In last season's playoffs, the Dickinson girls hockey team was just one overtime goal away from defeating Legacy-Bismarck – a team that would eventually go on to win the girls state hockey tournament.

This season, the Patriots made things a little less dramatic, taking down the Mavericks 8-1 to hand them their first loss of the year.

“They’re a solid team,” Dickinson head coach Lance Knudson said. “They're a team we went into overtime against last year . But I think they’re a team we can definitely compete with; it was definitely not an 8-1 difference kind of team.”
