A Way Home, a seasonal giving initiative supporting families across the Peninsula who are facing housing instability, domestic violence or emergency transitions during the winter months, will launch Friday and run through Jan. 1.

The effort is being supported by York County/Poquoson Commonwealth’s Attorney Krystyn Reid and the United Way of the Virginia Peninsula.

Throughout December, community members are asked to donate comfort items, hygiene products and household essentials that will be distributed by the United Way throughout the Peninsula. The initiative begins Black Friday “to encourage residents to shop with compassion as they begin holiday purchases,” a news release said.
