GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -Hundreds of travelers across the state are starting their journey to their Thanksgiving destinations, and we’re seeing plenty of traffic here in North Central Florida as people make their way south to Orlando, which is a top destination, or north to get out of state.
AAA projects 81.8 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home over the Thanksgiving holiday period until Monday, December 1st, setting a new overall record from last year.
We spoke with Sergeant Charles Hunt of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office traffic unit about how drivers can stay safe on the roads.
