BELCOURT, N.D. — Turtle Mountain College announced the largest private donation it has ever received via a $22 million gift from philanthropist and novelist MacKenzie Scott. TMC leadership sees Scott's generosity as setting the foundation for the college for the foreseeable future.

"We are profoundly grateful to MacKenzie Scott for this extraordinary commitment to our students and our mission," Turtle Mountain College President Dr. Wanda Parisien said in a release. "This gift is a powerful investment in Indigenous education and self-determination."

It is one of the latest donations Scott has given following her divorce settlement to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2019. Scott has donated over $19 billion across thousands of organizations and schools.
