Plans to tear down a two-storey building in County Durham have been submitted.
The Auckland Project has proposed the demolition of the two-storey building at 61 North Bondgate, Bishop Auckland, citing "safety and viability" reasons.
The building, constructed post-1840s, is not listed but is within the Bishop Auckland Conservation Area, and the proposal comes as work began to tear down historic buildings in the town centre to make way for a hotel.
The structure has been identified as a non-designated heritage asset, but it was said to have 'low' community value in a 2017 report.
A demolition plan, dated November 17, outlines the controlled demolition of the building, including the safe disposal of waste.
It will become a car park after demolition, planning documents confirm.
