Durham Freemasons have awarded a £35,000 grant to Feeding Families.

The funding will support the North East charity’s work providing emergency food assistance to people in crisis.

It forms part of the Freemasons' wider efforts to tackle food insecurity in the region.

In addition to the grant, Durham Freemasons have opened their halls in Shildon, Billingham, Stockton, and Sunderland as public collection points for non-perishable food donations.

The donation points are open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from noon to 1pm and 5pm to 6pm.

Wayne Dobson, CEO of Feeding Families, said: "Having the support of Durham Freemasons this Christmas means we can reach many people in need.
