Department for Work and Pensions claimants could find chaos at Jobcentres, Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment centres in January. It comes as staff look due to walkout in a row over pay.
Public and Commercial Services union (PCS) members at the DWP who work in Jobcentres, Universal Credit service centres, Personal Independence Payment centres, pension centres and child maintenance offices may strike.
Staff will be moving to a statutory strike ballot in January 2026, it has been confirmed. It comes after DWP’s 2025/26 pay offer was rejected in consultative ballot in October, with the strike ballot now set for after Christmas .
