Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee dismissed the sweeping racketeering case against President Donald Trump and several of his allies, which accused them of attempting to overturn the 2020 election result in Georgia , on Wednesday after the new prosecutor on the case requested the charges be dropped.

McAfee granted the request to dismiss shortly after Peter Skandalakis, director of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia, requested the case be dropped “to serve the interests of justice and promote judicial finality.” Skandalakis appointed himself to take over the case earlier this month after no other prosecutor agreed to take it over when Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was disqualified from the case.
