Rachel Reeves has announced more people on Universal Credit will be able to get their hands on the cash
Millions of Universal Credit claimants could receive bonuses of up to £1,200 following an announcement made by Rachel Reeves in her Budget . The Chancellor confirmed during her speech that the Help to Save scheme will become permanent, having previously been scheduled to end in 2027.
Nearly half a million people on low incomes have already pocketed more than £220 million in bonus payments of up to £1,200 through Help to Save, according to recent HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) figures. With Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) data showing around 8.3 million people currently receiving Universal Credit , millions could now benefit from the extended programme.
