Millions of Universal Credit claimants could see a boost of up to £1,200 following an announcement by Rachel Reeves in her Budget. Chancellor Rachel Reeves confirmed the Help to Save scheme, which was initially set to expire in 2027, has been made permanent.
According to recent figures from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), nearly half a million low-income individuals have already received over £220 million in bonus payments through the Help to Save scheme, with bonuses reaching up to £1,200. With current Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) data indicating that around 8.3 million people are now claiming Universal Credit, millions could potentially benefit from this scheme.
