WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — If you heard a loud boom in Central Georgia on Tuesday and Wednesday, no need to be alarmed.

There were two sonic booms at the Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins.

A sonic boom is a sound caused by an object moving faster than sound, which is about 750 miles per hour at sea level, according to the U.S. Air Force.

They posted on social media on Tuesday saying that a sonic boom would occur "around 12:15 EST."

Again, on Wednesday, they posted saying another one would happen "around 10:15 a.m."

According to a Robins Air Force Base spokesperson, they were doing their normal routine testing on their F-15 jets.

They said that depending on the testing, the boom can be heard past the Warner Robins area.
