Trio also releasing new self-titled album

Scott and Seth Avett of The Avett Brothers and Mike Patton, frontman of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, have a new self-titled album coming out as “AVTT/PTTN” and are planning a tour with a Phoenix stop.

The unexpected collaboration arrives alongside a major U.S. tour announcement, which will make its way to Arizona Financial Theatre on May 12. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5 at Ticketmaster.com.

The new album was written by the Avetts and Patton, and produced by Patton, Scott, and Grammy-winning engineer Dana Nielsen (Metallica, Rihanna). AVTT/PTTN will make their late night TV debut on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
