Lake Highland Prep’s senior-laden boys basketball team is going to have to slay some dragons to get to the FHSAA Class 3A final four . Nationally ranked Villages Charter and Tampa Catholic, the team that ousted the Highlanders in last season’s playoffs, are among those standing in the way.

Villages is No. 1 and TC No. 2 in the SourceHoops preseason 3A rankings. Lake Highland is No. 5. A fourth Region 2 team, Clearwater Calvary, is No. 9.

But as daunting as its playoff bracket could be, the Highlanders (3-0) have quickly proven they can take on fire-breathing opponents without surrendering.
