A Walker man was fatally struck Wednesday morning by a pickup truck while walking south on LA 447.

The man, 47-year-old Jeremy Grubbs, was walking in the southbound lane of LA 447 near Rougk Lane when a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado approached from behind him.

For reasons still under investigation, the front passenger side of the Silverado struck Grubbs, who sustained serious injuries.

Troopers arrived on scene just before 4 a.m., and Grubbs was pronounced dead on scene.

The pickup driver was properly restrained and uninjured. While impairment is not suspected, standard toxicology samples were taken.

The crash remains under investigation.
