BOSTON —
The MBTA is suing a man from Connecticut who was driving a Maserati that hit a Green Line trolley in Boston three years ago.
In an interview after the Nov. 23, 2022, crash, the driver told NewsCenter 5 the crash was caused by "stupidity."
According to the lawsuit filed this week, Larry Levitts of Cromwell, Connecticut, was driving along Commonwealth Avenue when he suddenly turned left into the path of the trolley.
"The impact of the collision caused damage to the MBTA trolley and the MBTA's railroad equipment in the area," the lawsuit states.
No injuries were reported in the crash, but one passenger who was aboard the trolley described experiencing "a pretty good jolt."
