A woman was injured Tuesday when she was hit by a vehicle while walking in Newton, police said.

The crash took place around 7:17 a.m. near the intersection of Ash and Auburn streets, Newton Police Lieutenant Amanda Henrickson said by email.

The woman was rushed to an area hospital for treatment, Henrickson said.

No information was immediately available on the woman’s condition.

The crash is under investigation.
