The Winnipeg Jets will see a new face take the ice on Wednesday.
Defenceman Elias Salomonsson will make his NHL debut as the team takes on the Washington Capitals on the road (7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT on Sportsnet West and Sportsnet+).
Salomonsson, 21, was called up by the Jets on Tuesday from their AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, as a replacement in the lineup for Neal Pionk.
Line rushes at Wednesday’s morning skate saw Salomonsson on the Jets’ second pairing with Dylan Samberg.
The six-foot-two, 185-pound Swede has played in 17 games for the Moose this season, recording six assists. In 53 games in 2024-25, he posted five goals and 22 assists.
He was drafted 55th overall by Winnipeg in 2022.
