Downtown Woodstock has reopened for business after months of construction.
Phase Two of the Downtown Streetscape project was completed late last month and the city centre reopened to traffic.
“It looks a lot better, the planters and benches make downtown look so much more inviting,” said Carolyn Dee, owner of The Charles Dickens Pub on Dundas Street. “The lighting makes people feel safer; as a business owner it’s important that people feel safe in the heart of our downtown.”
Concerns about the safety of downtown has been an ongoing issue. Woodstock, like many other cities and towns in Ontario, is experiencing a homelessness crisis coupled with the nationwide opioid crisis.
