Help for business owners approaching retirement is coming to Lambton County, starting in January.
Only one in 10 of the country’s business owners have a succession plan and 60 per cent are age 50 or older, according to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.
Sarah Reaume, CEP of Community Futures Lambton , referenced those statistics Wednesday while speaking to Lambton County council about the rollout planned for early in the new year of BizLink, a “confidential matchmaking” program for businesses.
BizLink, which is spreading to communities across western Ontario in 2026, was developed by a Community Futures office in Orillia with funding from the Trillium Foundation, Reaume said.
