As one of the busiest travel weeks of the year kicks off, officials are shifting their attention from the long security lines attributed to the recently ended government shutdown to passenger behavior. Ahead of Thanksgiving, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced in a news release that it has launched a new campaign focused on courtesy in airports and onboard aircraft.
At the same time, Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy is raising eyebrows after suggesting that airlines rethink— or possibly remove —the sugary, salty snacks that passengers receive on most domestic flights. While no official changes have been announced, Duffy’s comments raise valid concerns about expectations, service, and the future of flying in the United States.
